You need to get across town to your friend’s surprise party after work. How can you get there before they do? Use your embedded metrocard to tap or scan with your mobile device to receive optimal transit routes based on contextual, real-time information such as time-of-day, transit mode and cost, while also factoring in overcrowding, delays, weather, foot traffic and auto congestion, to provide accurate and efficient route suggestions.

How practical is your proposal?
Metrocards will be produced with a QR code (for iOS users) and embedded NFC chips (for Android users). Using Blue Bite’s technology, an app and mobile site will aggregate all modes of transit while factoring in real-time APIs and integrating MTA data, (along with other data from TLC, Uber, Lyft, Via, Citibike), to create an algorithm that provides accurate, personalized routes. NFC chips and QR codes can also be in transit areas; we already have sensors in 4,296 NYC taxis and bus shelters.
Is your proposal pioneering?
Existing traffic predictors currently take an average of data collected over time to create predictions. Our idea utilizes real-time and contextual information to provide minute-by-minute updates for the best options for travel modes and routes. Example: During peak hours, subways and buses are overcrowded. Instead, NYers will receive alternate non-crowded routes that will take them in proximity of their destination, saving them wait times and providing stress-free ride experiences.
How profitable is your proposal?
Very profitable. Multiple revenue streams can be generated from this idea.
- Transit operators pay to be listed as a transit option.
- Paid advertisements to promote NY-related events.
- To expand this idea, airports, restaurants and tourist sites can pay to be listed for specific tourist use.
Additionally, savings can be garned from utilizing real time data to maximize transit efficiencies.

Mikhail Damiani, CEO and Co-founder
Mikhail Damiani is the co-founder and CEO of Blue Bite. His industry acumen was initially honed at GCA Savvian in investment banking, where he focused on mergers and acquisitions within the technology sector. Realizing that mobile devices would play a significant role in the information age, Blue Bite was launched in 2007, and has evolved into a leader in connecting people with information through IoT.
Recognized by the United Nations in 2014 with a Leadership Award in the area of ‘Driving social change through media’, Mikhail currently leverages his extensive knowledge of mobile and software technology to lead all aspects of Blue Bite’s business and operations, and spearheads the company’s strategy to advance its market leadership. Mikhail received his degree in Finance and Management from the Stern School of Business at New York University. He speaks three languages fluently, and is an avid thrill seeker.
Tom Duncan, President and Co-founder
After receiving a Finance and Management degree from New York University’s Stern School of Business, Tom quickly realized that he was meant to work for a company of his own. With this entrepreneurial spirit, he co-founded Blue Bite in 2007. As President of Blue Bite, Tom is responsible for programming and deploying the company’s technology. Tom is bilingual, a world-travel enthusiast, and proudly calls Valley Stream, Long Island his hometown.
